Bet Brokers

Open a Sportmarket Account: Platform, Bookmakers and KYC

The short answer

Sportmarket is a betting broker that gives you one account for betting at several bookmakers and exchanges, among them PS3838 for Pinnacle, Sbobet, FairExchange and Singbet on request. The Main Account holds your money and handles deposits, withdrawals and transfers, the Betting Account on the Sportmarket Betting Platform is where you bet, and Sportmarket adds no commission to the platform's odds. The operator is Sportmarket Services Limited, an Isle of Man company licensed and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission. Identity verification is needed before any withdrawal and once deposits total EUR 3,000. This Sportmarket review also covers the platform's tools, the operators it reaches, how it compares with the other three brokers, and how to open an account.

What Sportmarket is

A broker is the middleman between you and the operators you would rather bet with, and our page on what is a bet broker explains the idea from scratch. Sportmarket is an authorised agent for a selection of bookmakers and exchanges, authorised by them to open betting accounts so that its customers can bet with them. We like the model for one plain reason, covered in the next section: your deposits and your betting sit in separate accounts.

Main Account, Betting Account and direct accounts

Sportmarket keeps your deposits in one account and your betting in another, and that split is the part we like best. The Main Account lives on the Sportmarket site and handles deposits, withdrawals, transfers and settings. The Betting Account lives on the platform and is where you bet (Sportmarket creates it for you after you register). You deposit into the Main Account, then transfer across to bet.

To take money out, you run it backwards. Bring the funds from the Betting Account to the Main Account with Transfer, then Account Transfer, and withdraw from there. Bets placed through the platform go into shared Bookmaker Accounts.

Direct Bookmaker Accounts are the other service. You bet yourself, in a dedicated account, through the bookmaker's own betting software, and the account is linked to your Main Account for funding and transfers. They include PS3838 (powered by Pinnacle) and FairExchange, and the Request Account Access button in the dashboard starts the request. PS3838 is opened on request through support, and you deposit and withdraw only through Sportmarket, never on the PS3838 website. FairExchange is available exclusively through Sportmarket: you register, pass the KYC check, deposit into the Main Account and ask support for access, with two-factor authentication switched on. Its commission is charged on winning bets only. A direct account earns its place only if you already know the bookmaker's interface; if not, the platform does more of the work.

Funds held in your Main Account or your Betting Account are held in segregated Client Accounts and protected under Isle of Man gambling law, apart from accounts with a credit facility. Funds held in Direct Bookmaker Accounts are not held in segregated Client Accounts. Figure 1 shows the route from your deposit to a placed bet.

What the Betting Platform gives you

The Sportmarket Betting Platform is powered by Mollybet, and these are the tools you will use most.

Sportmarket Betting Platform home view: sports tabs along the top, favourites and popular competitions on the left, top events with football and tennis odds in the centre and an empty betslip on the right. (Sportmarket, opens in a new tab)
Figure 4. The home view of the Sportmarket Betting Platform, with the betslip on the right. Source: Sportmarket.
  • Sportsbook view and Trade view. Sportsbook view shows one event at a time; Trade view shows several events and markets with the prices of different bookmakers. The default is set in Settings, General. We open Trade view to compare and Sportsbook view for a single match.
  • One order, several bookmakers. The platform splits a stake across bookmakers automatically when it has to, and the bet slip shows which of them cover your stake in full or in part. If one cancels its share you get a Partial Void. This is what Sportmarket does best, and we read the slip before we read any review of it.
  • Bet types. Singles, accumulators (parlays) and lay bets. Accumulators run on football, basketball and American football, and all accumulator bets are placed with Sportmarket. Net winnings on accumulators are capped at EUR 50,000 (or the equivalent) per calendar day, GMT, and the maximum stake on each one is set by Sportmarket and shown on the bet slip.
  • Future Fulfilment. You set a target price and a target stake, and the platform places the bet for you if the price is reached.
  • Smart Credit. It lets you use the profit from closed positions before the event ends. It works on full-time and half-time football markets, and not on markets with many runners.
  • Cashout and hedging. Cashout is open on selected events, from the Position tab. Hedging is the second bet that covers the first.
  • Arb Calculator, Event Insights and Bookies. The Arb Calculator, built into the bet slip, works out the cover on Sportmarket for a bet placed at another bookmaker, and our page on arbitrage with a broker shows the method. Event Insights is a data widget (form, line-ups, head-to-head and live stats) for selected live matches. The Bookies setting switches each bookmaker or prediction market on or off, and a green "e" on the slip marks a bookmaker with an equivalent market.

Markets run pre-match and in play across football, basketball, tennis, American football, baseball, ice hockey, cricket, rugby, boxing, MMA, golf, handball, darts, horse racing and eSports, with 1X2, Over/Under and Handicap lines, plus Asian Handicap at PS3838.

Bookmakers and exchanges on the platform

The platform puts bookmakers, exchanges and prediction markets in one place. On the bookmaker side it lists PS3838 for Pinnacle, Sbobet, 3et and Sharp, with Singbet on request (it is switched off by default and support turns it on). The exchanges include Smarkets, Matchbook, Betdaq and Molly, and Polymarket is a prediction market. FairExchange is the route to Betfair and Orbit Exchange. Table 1 shows the platform you use at each operator, and our pages on Pinnacle access and which bookmakers you can reach go further.

Prediction markets appear like any other bookmaker: decimal odds, fees built into the price, on by default and off one by one in Settings, Bookies. If the exchange side is new to you, read how betting exchanges work first.

Paying in and getting money out

You pay in by bank transfer, card (Visa and Mastercard), Neteller, Skrill, MuchBetter or crypto (BTC, USDT and USDC). Deposits, withdrawals and transfers all run through the Main Account. Money must come from an account, card or wallet in your own name, and third-party deposits are refused. Fiat and crypto cannot be mixed, and a method that is not supported for your country does not appear.

Money in is easy; money out has one rule.

To withdraw, bring the funds back to the Main Account, choose Withdraw and a method, follow the instructions and submit. A pending withdrawal can be cancelled from Withdraw, Pending Withdrawals, but not once it has been processed. Withdrawals go back by the method you deposited with, up to the amount deposited by that method, and support handles exceptions on request. The account has to be verified before any withdrawal request, which is why we settle the identity check first.

The identity check

Sportmarket asks for photo ID, which is a passport, a national ID card or a driving licence (front and back for the cards), and proof of address less than three months old. That can be a utility, TV or internet bill, a bank or card statement, a government tax document, or a letter from the municipality or the police. The proof shows your full name and the address on the account, as a clear and complete PDF or image, and a selfie or liveness check completes the identity step.

You upload everything in the Verification tab of the Main Account, or use the verification button under User Info. Blurred images, cropped documents, an expired ID and details that do not match are what make an upload fail. Verification is renewed on request if your ID expires or your address changes, and the checks are done by third-party software or a member of the Sportmarket team. We would rather clear it once, before the first withdrawal, than on the day we want the money out. Clause 8.1 takes two minutes to read and tells you more than a review does; how broker verification works has the wider picture.

Company and licence

The operator is Sportmarket Services Limited, trading as Sportmarket, an Isle of Man company with company number 132465C, licensed and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission. It acts as an authorised agent: it receives the funds you deposit, makes them available for betting with the bookmakers, keeps a statement of every betting and funding transaction, and settles with the bookmakers on your behalf.

Sportmarket is the one we choose when we want the platform to split the order and show who covers the stake.

BetInAsia is the one for BLACK and its exchange prices, and BetInAsia compared with Sportmarket sets the two side by side.

Edge is the reason we open an account with the MadMarket broker.

Opening an account

Press JOIN NOW and complete the two-step form. The account is opened in your own full legal name, one account per person, and you must be 18 or over. Turn on two-factor authentication from User Info, in the Security tab, with Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Who can register and the steps one by one are on the page for Sportmarket restricted countries. The account carries its own responsible gambling tools: Self-Limit, Timeout and Self-Exclusion.

Questions people ask

Is Sportmarket legit?

Yes. Sportmarket Services Limited, the company behind it, is licensed and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission. The operator, its company number and its role as an authorised agent are set out under "Company and licence" above, and the section on the accounts shows where your funds sit.

What is Sportmarket Pro?

"Sportmarket PRO" is the former name of the Sportmarket Betting Platform, the platform where bets are placed in shared Bookmaker Accounts. Direct Bookmaker Accounts, such as PS3838 and FairExchange, are a separate service.

Does Sportmarket have an API?

No. Sportmarket no longer offers an API. Bets are placed on the Sportmarket Betting Platform, in the browser on desktop and on mobile. There is no native app, only a web version optimised for mobile.

Does Sportmarket add commission to its odds?

No. Sportmarket adds no extra commission to the odds on the platform. The fees of the bookmakers and exchanges are built into the prices you see, so the price on the bet slip is the price at settlement. FairExchange, the direct exchange account, charges commission on winning bets only, never on losses. Our exchange guide explains how that commission works.

What is the maximum bet at Sportmarket?

The maximum is not fixed: it depends on the bookmaker, the event and the odds at that moment, and the bet slip shows it. The slip also marks which bookmakers cover your stake in full or in part. A stake above the available limit is refused, and you can reduce it or spread it across other odds or bookmakers. At a broker the limits come from the market, set by liquidity and exposure; how limits work at brokers goes into it.

Why does Sportmarket ask for source of funds or source of wealth?

Because the request belongs to the anti-money-laundering checks: clause 8.2 reserves the right to ask where your funds and your wealth come from, and the Help Centre lists what it accepts.

For the source of funds: payslips or statements, loan agreements, savings, gambling winnings, pensions and inheritance. For the source of wealth: business income, investments, inheritance or family wealth, and investor funding. Sportmarket can also ask for certified or notarised copies.
